Gallery’s busy schedule
CAIRNS Art Gallery is heading into September with a program of exhibitions, live entertainment, art classes, school holiday activities and wellness workshops.

An introductory four-week life drawing course with experienced tutor and practising artist Sue Schreiber began on 26 August and continues on September 2, 9 and 16.
Using charcoal and pastels, participants are guided in capturing the human form while exploring proportion, gesture, line and shading. The course is for ages 18-plus and costs $210 for members and $240 for non-members.
A series of kids’ school holiday classes will run from 21 September to 1 October, with activities including miniature art galleries, air-dry clay, still-life painting, creature creations, block printing and comic-book character workshops. Classes are available for age groups 5-9, 9-14 and 1-16.
The ‘Gallery Rituals’ wellness workshops will also continue, beginning with Art of Stillness – Guided Meditation & Sound Healing with Harp, featuring Liza Soenario & Joy Zahner, on 27 September. Further sessions are scheduled for 25 October and 29 November.
