Beach link opens to traffic
A CONNECTION road between Trinity Beach and Trinity Park opened this week to take pressure off the Captain Cook Highway and to make it easier for residents to get between the two suburbs.

Councillors Brett Olds (Div. 9) and Rhonda Coghlan (Div. 8) celebrated the opening of the $9.6m two-lane extension on Wednesday morning.
Cr Olds said, with Hope St about to be opened between Clifton Beach and Kewarra Beach by then end of the month, there remained just one missing link – between Clifton Beach and Palm Cove – which had yet to be funded.
Navigation Drive joins Reed Rd at Trinity Park and Trinity Beach Rd.
“It is going to be positive and it’s going to take a lot of the pressure off Roberts Rd and the highway just there,” he said.
“The good news is if there’s ever an accident on the highway, people have another option.
Cr Olds said council was planning to eventually install traffic lights at both ends of the new road to manage increased traffic volumes.
He said motorists would be able to go from Clifton all the way to Yorkeys Knob without travelling on the highway.
Cr Coghlan said it would take traffic off the highway and provide a vital link between two of the busiest suburbs on the northern beaches.
